Boulevard is the pricier, spa-focused system; Vagaro costs a fraction of it and is better known among salons. For a med spa with one to four providers on a tight budget, Vagaro's price is hard to argue with. Once you have five or more providers, want booking to open over your own website, or plan a second location, Boulevard is the more common choice. In September 2026 we measured 389 med spa websites in 21 US cities: Boulevard appeared on 53 of them and Vagaro on 15. Below are both price lists as published on October 31, 2026, and what the clinics on each platform actually do with booking.

The short answer

  • Pick Vagaro if you are a solo injector or a small clinic, price is the deciding factor, and a link out to a booking page is fine. Its base plan is $30 a month plus $10 per bookable calendar, and the calendar charge stops at seven.
  • Pick Boulevard if you have five or more providers, want booking to open in a panel over your own site, or expect to add a location. Its plans start at $143 a month for up to 5 providers and run to $410 a month per location at list price.
  • Look past both if charting, consent and photo records are what you are really choosing on. Aesthetic Record (30 clinics in our sample) and PatientNow (20) keep those in the same system as the calendar.

How often each shows up on med spa websites

Our grader reads each homepage's code and records which booking platform its Book buttons link to or load. Of the 364 homepages where we could check booking, 227 used a platform we could name. Boulevard was the most common of all, on 53. Vagaro was sixth, on 15, behind Zenoti (49), Aesthetic Record (30), PatientNow (20) and Square Appointments (17). The full breakdown is in our online booking study.

  • Boulevard clinics averaged 88.2 on our 100-point website score, and Vagaro clinics 89.3. The platform does not decide how good the website around it is.
  • One clinic had Book buttons going to both Boulevard and Vagaro at the same time, so a patient's booking landed in a different system depending on which button they tapped.
  • An Atlanta site carried a script labelled "Vagaro links redirect" that rewrites every old Vagaro link to Mangomint after the page loads, the trace of a switch that never got finished.
  • Another clinic books through Zenoti and sells gift cards through Vagaro, which works as long as the button says Gift cards and only one button says Book.

Fifteen Vagaro clinics is a small group, so read its numbers below as a close look at 15 real sites rather than a rule.

What each costs in 2026

We read both vendors' own pricing pages on October 31, 2026: Boulevard pricing and Vagaro pricing. Both show a monthly price and both run new-customer offers, so the figures below give the list price first.

  • Boulevard Essentials: $143 a month, one location, up to 5 providers. Includes 250 texts, 1,000 email blasts and 50 GB of storage.
  • Boulevard Premier: $293 a month per location, unlimited providers. Shown at $234 as a limited-time offer for new customers.
  • Boulevard Prestige: $410 a month per location, shown at $328 on the same offer. Adds the Forms add-on, 2,500 texts and 10,000 email blasts.
  • Boulevard add-ons: Forms from $65 a month per location, ePrescribe $45 per prescriber, QuickBooks sync $45 a month. Enterprise pricing is by quote. The page offers 10% off for annual billing.
  • Vagaro, one location: $30 a month, shown at $23.99 for the first six months. Each bookable calendar costs $10, up to seven; after seven, more staff cost nothing extra. Multi-location pricing is by quote, and there is a 30-day free trial.

Three clinic sizes, side by side

  1. Solo injector, one calendar: Boulevard Essentials at $143, against Vagaro at $30 plus a calendar licence if your account needs one, so $30 to $40.
  2. Four providers, one location: Boulevard Essentials at $143 still covers it. Vagaro is $30 plus up to four calendars, about $70.
  3. Eight providers, one location: Essentials stops at five providers, so Boulevard means Premier at $293 ($234 on the current offer). Vagaro tops out at $30 plus seven calendars, $100.

Add forms to any of these and Boulevard adds $65 a month unless you are on Prestige; Vagaro prices Forms as its own add-on, so check that line in the trial. Card processing sits on top of all of it. Vagaro advertises rates "as low as 2.2%" on its forms page, while Boulevard publishes no rate and describes an Offset option where the client pays a 3% card fee and the clinic pays 1%. Ask both for a written quote at your monthly card volume before comparing totals.

How booking looks on your website

This is where the two differ most for a patient, and where our data says the most. We opened each Boulevard and Vagaro homepage and recorded how a tap on Book hands the patient over.

  • Boulevard keeps patients on your page. 39 of the 53 clinics load its Self-Booking Overlay, a panel that slides in over the clinic's own site. 12 only link out.
  • Vagaro clinics mostly send patients away. 10 of 15 link out to a Vagaro booking page and 3 open a pop-up, even though Vagaro also offers an in-page widget.
  • New tabs are the norm on both. 22 of the 26 Boulevard clinics that link out open a new browser tab, as do 11 of the 13 Vagaro clinics that link. On a phone, that new tab is one more place for a patient to get lost.
  • Almost nobody links a treatment page to its treatment. Both platforms can open booking on one specific service. 2 of 52 reachable Boulevard homepages did it, and 0 of 13 linking Vagaro homepages.

That last point costs nothing to fix on either system. In Boulevard it is Sharing Options on a service or category; in Vagaro it is Create Link in the service menu. The step-by-step for both is in the platform setup section of our booking study. Counting bookings in Google Analytics also differs: for a widget on your own site, Vagaro documents a redirect to a thank-you page after booking, which you then count in GA4.

Forms, prescribing and HIPAA

Neither tool started life as a medical chart, and both have added pieces of one. Here is what each vendor publishes today:

  • Boulevard answers "Is Boulevard PCI, HIPAA, or SOC compliant?" with "Short answer: Yes" on its pricing page, sells ePrescribe (EPCS, Surescripts network) at $45 per prescriber, and sells Forms as an add-on. The pricing page does not mention a Business Associate Agreement.
  • Vagaro advertises "EMR and HIPAA-compliant SOAP notes" on its forms page. Its help centre describes signing a Business Associate Agreement inside settings to turn on HIPAA-compliant notifications, for US businesses only.

Whichever you choose, get the signed Business Associate Agreement before your booking flow or intake forms collect health information, and keep advertising pixels off the booking and form pages. Our HIPAA guide for med spa websites covers the website side of that.

Which one fits your clinic

  • One to four providers, one location, watching every dollar: Vagaro. The saving against Boulevard Essentials is roughly $70 to $110 a month before add-ons.
  • Five to eight providers: price both properly. Boulevard Premier at list costs about three times Vagaro at seven calendars, so the overlay and the spa-focused tools have to be worth about $190 a month to you.
  • Two or more locations: both quote multi-location pricing privately. Boulevard's Premier and Prestige prices are per location, so multiply before the call.
  • Charting and photo records are the priority: shortlist Aesthetic Record and PatientNow alongside these two. Our software alternatives study lists what the 227 clinics actually run.
  • Already on one and thinking of moving: the website is where the old system hangs on. Our switching checklist covers the leftover links, scripts and Google Business Profile booking link to change.

Whichever you pick, check three things on your own site this week: the Book link sits in the header and works on a phone, booking opens without a new tab where the platform allows it, and each treatment page opens that treatment. If you want a second pair of eyes, we'll check your booking path for free and send the top three fixes, no call required: get a free audit. If you are setting up a new system and want it wired into the site properly, that is our booking integration service.

Frequently asked

Quick answers.

Is Boulevard or Vagaro cheaper for a med spa?
Vagaro, by a wide margin. On October 31, 2026, Vagaro listed $30 a month for one location plus $10 per bookable calendar up to seven, so a four-provider clinic pays about $70. Boulevard's cheapest plan, Essentials, was $143 a month for up to 5 providers, and Premier was $293 a month per location at list price. Card processing and add-ons such as forms are extra on both.
Which is more popular with med spas, Boulevard or Vagaro?
Boulevard. In our September 2026 study of 389 med spa websites in 21 US cities, Boulevard was the most common booking platform, on 53 sites. Vagaro appeared on 15, sixth behind Zenoti, Aesthetic Record, PatientNow and Square Appointments.
Can Boulevard and Vagaro keep patients on my website when they book?
Both can. Boulevard's Self-Booking Overlay opens over your page, and 39 of the 53 Boulevard clinics we checked used it. Vagaro offers an in-page widget and a pop-up, but 10 of the 15 Vagaro clinics we checked linked out to a Vagaro booking page instead.
Are Boulevard and Vagaro HIPAA compliant?
Boulevard's pricing page answers yes to whether it is HIPAA compliant, and Vagaro advertises HIPAA-compliant SOAP notes and describes signing a Business Associate Agreement in its settings for HIPAA-compliant notifications. Before collecting any health information through either one, get a signed Business Associate Agreement and confirm which features it covers.
