Search for "the best alternative to RepeatMD for medspas" and you get listicles written by people who have never opened the software. We took a different route. In September 2026 we graded 389 med spa websites across 21 US cities and recorded, site by site, which booking platform each clinic actually exposes to patients. 227 of them revealed one, spread across 21 different tools. Here is what the real distribution looks like, and why the systems owners most often ask about never showed up at all.

The short answer

Of the 364 med spa sites where we could check booking, 227 (62.4%) exposed an identifiable platform and 137 (37.6%) did not. Among those 227, three tools account for 58.1% of everything in use: Boulevard (53 sites), Zenoti (49) and Aesthetic Record (30). The remaining 42% is a long tail of 18 other platforms, nine of which appear three times or fewer.

What we measured

This is a website study, not a software review. We collected 389 med spa websites across 21 US metros in September 2026 and ran the same automated checks on each one, the same dataset behind our 2026 med spa website report. One of those checks follows the booking link on the homepage and records where it lands.

  • 389 med spa websites graded, across 21 US metros, in September 2026.
  • 364 of those had a booking state we could check without guessing.
  • 227 exposed a named platform in the booking destination.
  • 137 sent patients to a contact form, a phone number, or a system we could not fingerprint from the public site.
  • 248 total platform mentions across those 227 sites, because some clinics run more than one.

What 227 clinics actually run

Counts are the number of sites exposing each platform, with each one as a share of the 227 sites where we identified something:

  1. Boulevard: 53 sites (23.3%)
  2. Zenoti: 49 sites (21.6%)
  3. Aesthetic Record: 30 sites (13.2%)
  4. PatientNow: 20 sites (8.8%)
  5. Square Appointments: 17 sites (7.5%)
  6. Vagaro: 15 sites (6.6%)
  7. Mangomint: 13 sites (5.7%)
  8. AestheticsPro: 11 sites (4.8%)
  9. Jane: 8 sites (3.5%)
  10. Booker, Meevo and Mindbody: 6 sites each (2.6%)
  11. Moxie: 3 sites (1.3%)
  12. Acuity, Calendly and Prospyr: 2 sites each (0.9%)
  13. Fresha, Phorest, Setmore, Timely and WellnessLiving: 1 site each (0.4%)

Two things stand out. The first is how concentrated the top is: Boulevard and Zenoti together cover 102 of 227 sites. The second is how long the tail runs. Seeing Calendly and Acuity on live med spa sites means some clinics are booking medical appointments through general-purpose scheduling tools, which handle a calendar well and know nothing about treatment rooms, provider licensing or intake forms.

The tools you are searching for did not appear

The queries that bring owners to this topic name a consistent set of systems: RepeatMD, E-Clinic, AestheticDocs, EdgeMD, MDware, Clever Clinic, Alta Point, MyPatientVisit. Across all 389 sites we graded, not one of them appeared. That is not a verdict on any of them. It is a structural fact about where they sit.

Those are practice-management and EMR systems. They run charting, consents, inventory, memberships and patient records, and they do that work behind the front desk where no website check can see it. The platforms in our list are the ones wired into a public booking button. Plenty of clinics run one of each.

Four questions that decide it

When a clinic asks us to weigh in on booking software, these are the questions that change the answer. None of them is about feature count.

  1. Does it book on your own domain, or send the patient somewhere else? A handoff to an unfamiliar subdomain is where a share of bookings quietly disappears.
  2. Can a patient finish on a phone, one-handed, without pinching to zoom? Most med spa traffic is mobile, and most booking abandonment is mobile.
  3. Does it let you take a deposit? Deposits are the single most effective no-show control most clinics have available to them.
  4. Will it still exist, and still integrate, in three years? Migration is the expensive part, not the subscription.

A platform that scores well on all four is worth more than one with a longer feature list, because those four are the ones a patient feels. We go through the mechanics of the booking handoff in more detail in getting online booking right.

What a switch costs on the website side

Software comparisons tend to stop at the subscription price. The cost that surprises clinics is on their own website, and our measurements show why. In the same study, 75 of the 371 homepages we could check had a broken link, and 36 of 372 sitemaps still listed leftover test pages. A platform migration is one of the most reliable ways to create both.

Every "Book Now" button, every treatment page CTA, every footer link and every old campaign URL points at the system you are leaving. Miss one and it will keep pointing there long after the account closes. We wrote a full pre-flight list in switching med spa booking software.

  • Inventory every booking link before you cancel anything, including links inside blog posts and old promotions.
  • Redirect the old booking subdomain rather than deleting it, so saved links and printed material still land somewhere useful.
  • Re-check the booking flow on a real phone after the switch, not just on a desktop preview.
  • Watch your booking numbers for a fortnight afterwards. A quiet drop usually means one link was missed.

Where to start

If you are weighing alternatives right now, start by separating the two decisions. Write down what your back-office system has to do, then separately write down what a patient has to be able to do at 11pm. Those lists rarely point at the same product, and trying to make one tool satisfy both is what leads to a booking experience nobody likes.

Then check what your current setup is actually doing to patients before you blame the software. In our 389-site study the most common problems were not missing features. They were broken links, booking buttons pointing at pages that no longer exist, and flows that fell apart on a phone.

We will run the same checks on your site that we ran across those 389 and send you the results. It is free, there is no pitch and no card: get your free website audit.

Frequently asked

Quick answers.

What is the best alternative to RepeatMD for med spas?
There is no single answer, because RepeatMD is a back-office and patient-engagement system rather than a public booking tool. It did not appear on any of the 389 med spa websites we graded in September 2026, which tells you it sits behind the front desk rather than on the booking button. Decide your back-office system on charting, memberships and reporting, and decide your booking platform separately on whether a patient can complete an appointment on a phone.
What booking software do most med spas use?
Across 364 med spa websites where we could check booking in September 2026, 227 exposed an identifiable platform. Boulevard led with 53 sites, Zenoti had 49 and Aesthetic Record had 30. Those three cover 58.1 percent of everything we identified. The remaining share was spread across 18 other platforms.
Is it a problem that my booking link goes to another website?
It is not automatically a problem, but it is the point where bookings are most often lost. The handoff should look and feel like a continuation of your site, load quickly on a phone, and never ask the patient to create an account before they can see availability. If the destination looks like unrelated software, expect some people to stop there.
How much does switching booking software cost on the website side?
The subscription is rarely the expensive part. The real cost is updating every booking link across your site, including treatment pages, blog posts, old promotions and the footer, then redirecting the old booking address so saved and printed links still work. Clinics that skip the inventory step usually discover the misses weeks later through a quiet drop in bookings.
